Does the RTX 2060 larger dimensions than the GTX 1060 3gb?

I want to upgrade my GPU from GTX 1060 3gb to RTX 2060 6GB and I'm wondering if the new card will fit into the PC. Can't really measure the physical space available in my PC, so I'm trying to compare the dimensions of my existing GPU that does fit in, to see if it's about the same size. The problem is that the dimensions written online are weird and different for every website and stats. I'm looking for reliable information about the dimensions of these cards (LxWxH), so I thought someone here could help with it.

Do you have a reference card or one not by Nvidea (ex: Zotac, ASUS, Gigabyte, etc)?

This may be entirely relavent to what 1060 you have, and what 2060 you're looking at.

Reference PCB and cooler (I.E. Founders edition) are officially listed at (in inches):

1060:
L: 9.823"
W: 2-slot

2060:
L: 9.0"
W: 2-slot
H: 4.435"

You can usually find specs (including dimensions) on the respective "specs" page for your respective model, For these two reference cards, it's directly through Nvidia

Depends on the actual model, You can get really thick 3 fan cards and also thin single fan cards.

Again, that's not an answer that we can definitively answer one way or the other for you. It depends on what your case can support. Often times you can look up your chassis and find maximum dimensions as well (though this may or may not include the removal of any front-mounted hard drive cages, and/or without a front mounted radiator, you will have to clarify that with the manufacturer if it's not listed.)

Just found the exact case I have. These are the dimensions provided (chassis):

• Height: 36.40 cm (14.33 in)
• Width: 16.51 cm (6.50 in)
• Depth: 37.80 cm (14.88 in)

Not quite sure what to do with this, isn't there a difference between the entire case's dimensions and what size GPUs it fits?

Maximum dimensions on the other hand aren't listed in the info.

I honestly don't know. Already threw away the paper that came with the computer, and I don't think it says on the graphics card (can't find any text on it). All I know is that it's a GTX 1060 with 3gb of VRAM. Is there a way to check that through system information or something? Going to tell you if I find out

Downloaded speccy and that's what it says (image below). Typed in the device ID with the card and went through 2 pages of google and couldn't find the its dimensions whatsoever.

I searched your machine but it shows an RX 550 in the system, that's why I thought you added the 1060 3gb from somewhere else.

 

the RX 550 anyway is only 6.4" long or 16.256cm long, which limits you to other short ITX cards. Better find the prebuilt model with the 1060 in it then

Maybe try contacting HP support and see if they could give you the specs?

Just open up the case and measure how much length is available in the space that your 1060 is currently sitting in. If that is more than the published length of the 2060 you want, you should be good. 

 

One more thing to consider, if you are doing this in a HP, is do you have the power supply connections that the 2060 is going to need?  The HP might not have the extra power connectors needed.

Found the prebuilt model with my exact specs (1060 3gb), and the case dimensions are nearly the same.

Thanks, I'm going to try measuring, guess that's the only truly reliable option if I can't find the max dimensions. As for the power supply, I had a 300W PSU in my computer before, now I recently bought a Be quiet! 600W PSU: https://www.bequiet.com/en/powersupply/1279

11.2 cm tall x 17.3 cm long, so you're limited to single fan cards that are no taller than the PCIe bracket.

Ouch. Might want to start looking into the compatibility of your motherboard fitting in a new case. That is tight.

Might be a really stupid question, but when you're replacing the case do you have to take all the components out first, or can you just kinda switch the case without really messing with the components that much?

You basically remove everything from the motherboard, remove the motherboard from the old case, install the motherboard in the new case, then install everything else. 

 

That is assuming the motherboard you have uses ATX standard mounting points, and uses standard connections for the power button, reset switch, hdd led, and front USB ports.  If it doesn't use ATX standards, you've got a whole new set of problems, probably starting with getting a new motherboard that is compatible with all your components (really just the CPU and memory type) and using that.  

 

So yes, it is basically everything.  But everything isn't really that much.  It's really just removing the GPU, storage and any expansion cards you might have, and maybe the CPU cooler if it is in the way of any of the mounting screws.  The CPU and memory will stay on the motherboard most likely.  Disconnecting all the power connections, moving the power supply, and putting it back in the new case is probably the most tedious part.

 

Have you actually opened up the case to measure the space that is in there for the video card?  Those specs seems really small.  It might be better to get in there and see what is in the way.  It might be a lot easier to try to move a drive cage or something that might be in the way rather than taking the chance on moving over to a new case.
