Mars Curiosity m-itx 2019 (2021 update)

In 2019 i built my 3rd m-itx computer, designed and built by myself based on the planet Mars.

the last 2 cases / computers were based on Earth, but this time i wanted something different and went for a custom built Parvum X2.0 m-itx case with different than standard dimensions, i made it approx. one inch more in height so it can take a 2.7 slot GPU

The main components are:

Case - Parvum X2.0 m-itx special dimension case in (black main panels) (brown gloss front panel) (red frosted back panel)

m/board - Asus m-itx Z370 ROG Strix i-gaming motherboard

CPU - Intel i9 9900 with Noctua NH-D9L CPU cooler

GPU - Asus 2070 super RTX duel series

PSU - Silverstone FSX-L SX700 LPT fully modular power supply NOW with Cable Mod custom cables.

memory - 32gb 3200mhz DDR4 GSkill trident Z kit

main drive (C) Team Group T-Force Cardea IOPS 1TB nvme gen3 M.2 SSD drive

games drive (D)Team Group T-Force Cardea 2TB nvme gen4 M.2 SSD drive

LED lighting

front fan - Corsair 140mm PWM Blue LED premium fan

top fans - 2x 140mm super thin fans

rear fans - 2x Noctua 80mm PWM case fans.

Monitor - Asus PB278Q WQHD 2K (1440p) 27" LCD LED monitor (as reviewed by Linus) totally awesome all-rounder monitor at time of purchase.

CableMod custom cables.

overall evaluation:

Small, compact unit with adequate power, performance for most modern games, air cooled is simple & effective, no problem with overheating, quite and looks amazing at night.  built to budget, works perfect. all components are new.

thank you for checking this out, its the only one in the world, custom case, my design and build. i can update the build pics later, ones now reflect the finished build.

note: some pictures are taken when i had the old memory kit installed which was a 16GB Team group Vulcan 3200mhz kit.

Hear are some more build pictures..

note how good design for airflow, all inline from the 140mm front panel intake, then 2x 140mm top intake (supply GPU & Case) then 2x 80mm rear exhaust fans, create positive pressure system. (cool, quiet, simple, effective, no dust.

Are those glossy panels easily scratchable?

Its high quality plexiglass and so far now scratches, if i clean i use glass cleaner and good cloth.

Nice job, build looks superclean!

Thank you,

i know the hardware specs are not exactly top of the range, but not everyone can afford the highest performance components, i spent more time and money into the design, customisation of the build, because its m-itx and small case, the challenge is to make something special / unique, and i love all space stuff / planets etc so this time i based the case on the planet Mars, with the colour scheme / graphics etc.

i did some custom wiring in the side where the PSU goes, to reduce wire length, and supply power to the UV lighting.

all i can say is its compact, quiet and enough power to run AAA games on 1440p (2K) monitor.

Thtat doesnt matter at all tbh, you build the system that you want to build, thats the most important part :)

Updated April 2020 with Asus 2070 Super RTX Duel.

fits with 2mm clearance between top case fans, this is what custom design and building is all about, maximising the space to build something special.

As of 15th January 2021 i have now got a company to make new decals which are durable material so can be cleaned and water resistant. i designed the graphic for the side panel, so they printed the decals for the front and side panel.

I also have on order some custom made cables from cablemod on there way 9apparently it will be March when i get them.)

Later date i have plan to get the Asus Impact ROG Mini-DTX X570 m-board and Gen 3 Ryzen CPU. and a 3070 Duel series when available (maybe summer this year) .

Yep its a Noctua NH-D9L cooler, worker really well, i always like Noctua products, you can't go wrong with the NH-D9L for small form factor.

Some screenshots of MSFS, this is not by means a super high spec PC (as i write this) however everyone has a budget and it is also important to know that a smart PC builder will choose components that work together and not have any major bottlenecks in the system.   yes the Intel i9 9900 is a few yeas old now, same as the Asus 2070 super RTX but it still does a wonderful job and good all round PC for my needs.

having nvme M.2 drives makes the system run smooth and is affordable now to get 1TB & 2TB drives.
