PC won’t turn on

Foxed

I built this pc 3 days ago and it was working perfectly fine, I went to a friends house for the night and when I came back the PC wouldn’t turn on. When I pressed the power button the fans would spin and the case LED would turn on for about half a second and then the whole system turned off. It then repeated this until I cut off the PSU.
I searched up some solutions and tried all of them. I tested the ram, took out all my usb appliances and re-seated the GPU. I then took o the CMOS battery and put it back in like they said and now my PC just doesn’t do anything at all when I press the power button.

Geforce RTX 2060

Kraken m22 liquid cooler

ASUS Rog Strix Z390-e gaming motherboard

Have you checked your power supply? Have a sniff of it and you will be able to check if it's blown, or you can get your hands on a multimeter check the outputs to ensure they're fine.

Outside of that check your motherboard for any blown capacitors

did you try booting the system without the RAM?

also see if your cpu/gpu generates heat when turned on for a while

Good Luck!

Took out both ram sticks and put them back in, I pressed the power button and this time the case led stayed on and the GPU fans stayed on but the other fans didn’t turn in and there was nothing on the monitor. I then turned off the pc and now the boot loop is happening.

Also when I first tried booting this morning to see if it just fixed itself, two lights in the motherboard turned on, it was red then orange then the pc just shut off and cycled and the lights went on again. The lights usually don’t turn on. Then on like the 3rd cycle that’s when the case led stayed on and the gpu fans kept spinning but noting else was on and there was no display on the monitor.

Ok try this:

Unplug the power cord

Press the start button for 30 sec.

reset the CMOS

If the power supply has a switch, turn it Off

Plug the power cord in

Switch On the PSU

Press start, and see if you can get into BIOS. If you can make sure that all settings are reset to default.

If you can Disable the MoBo WiFi

Also, if you are using the external GPU, take it out before you boot, you have Intel Graphics on the CPU, use that to connect to the monitor and see if it works, make sure you connect the Monitor to the MoBo.

Try to boot in Safe Mode.

I took out the battery and put a screwdriver to my jumper and my PC won’t power up. This happened last time I took out my battery and put it back in but eventually it boots again.

I unplugged the power, switched the PSU off, then I took out my GPU. After I did that, I took out the little battery then put my screwdriver to my jumper. My MoBo WiFi was already off. Now I’m just waiting for my pc to be able to turn on.

Just an update: the power button still won’t turn the pc on, like I said before this same thing happened last time I took out the battery but overnight I was able to turn it on again.

Update: after resetting the battery and taking out the GPU using the internal graphics the power button still turns on my case LED and fans for a second and turns it off then repeats this until I switch the PSU

there is a short on the MB.

Open the back plate and make sure there are no rogue screws or anything between the MB and the MB deck.

OR

It is the PSU. Have you tested the system with a different PSU?

I don’t think anything is wrong with the motherboard, just checked. I thought it was the PSU too but I don’t have another PSU to use. It’s frustrating because all the parts I used to build this PC was brand new and the system itself is brand new, only 3 days ago I built it. It was also working fine but I’m considering taking it to the local repair shop.

To add on, while I let it “rest” for an hour or two when I switched the PSU back on and then pressed the power button the system stayed on for longer than usual, about 3 seconds and then shut itself off again. Then it went back to the half a second loop.

I read in another thread that the water cooling block was screwed on too tight.. try loosening it and see if it makes any difference.

When you said that you reset the bios, did you reset it to factory defaults? Had you done any changes before that?
