Is this CPU usage normal

Hi. I have been noticing some delays and lagginess when using Windows (opening programs, typing, scrolling, moving cursor etc. etc.)

Looking at the screenshot below, my CPU spiked up to 100% when I opened up Chrome. So my question is, is that normal? This may help me understand the cause of the lag.

Thanks in advance :)

Edit: you can also see my GPU usage spiked as well.

Specs:

Ryzen 3 2200G

GTX 1660 Super StormX

2x4 GB DDR4 RAM @ 2400 MHz

BEQUIET BN297 500 Watt

I didn't understand what that means but yes,  that looks pretty normal for the CPU and apparently OP has high network traffic so it's far from idling.

meaning just letting the OS do whatever it wants regarding OS updates , driver updates , program updates , and how much information it's allowed to seed to and from microsoft or any other company who's software you use.

Yeah I'd fully expect pretty high and pretty random cpu usage. Without the machine being locked down in any form it's basically free to use the cpu as it sees fit.

This can certainly contribute to bad performance.

RYZEN needs 3000MHZ DDR4 RAM in dual channel to function properly.

Not sure why you'd have 2400mhz RAM with this CPU,  what is the RAM rated for?  Should be on the sticks themselves and also the packaging.

wow thats the first time I ever heard that. I better tell the thousands of people who have this chip that their computers aren't functional.

This is true, figured that's what you meant.

(hence I have updates and telemetry off)

Not fully at least...

I honestly figure most people would do some basic research before buying PC components - but I would probably be wrong because I see that a lot...

Ah, I see. Thanks.

And can we say the same for GPU usage?

no the gpu doesn't process non gpu related data. not only that but theres no actual way to see gpu usage. any gpu usage % graph your machine has is extremely basic and doesn't actually show the correct usage. Which is why simply moving windows around a 2d screen will show on the usage % even though the task requires almost no effort by the gpu.

Rating? Is that the clock speed?

For reference, this is my RAM.

I see,  well that's the wrong RAM for this CPU.  You might be able to OC it manually,  if you want to do that I'd suggest making a thread about how to go about this best.  Otherwise I would suggest buying the proper RAM for your CPU.  It's especially important for 1st gen Ryzens ironically,  and well,  you will never get the full potential with this RAM speeds.

What speed do you recommend? At least 3000 MHz?

Yeap. Or 3200.

If you get 3000 RAM don't be surprised if it runs at 2933 after setting XMP, not sure why but that's normal on most mobos.
