unRaid not logging on

so im trying to do the whole 2 gamers one cpu build, ive got my two cards and all, but im unable to actually login to my unraid server, i get to the tower login, and my ip for the server setup is correct, but i cant actually find it in my router, nor can i connect to it using my macbook, the setup for my config file for network is

USE_DHCP="no"
IPADDR=192.168.20.5
NETMASK=255.255.255.0
GATEWAY=192.168.20.1
and i cant connect to it using the "http://tower" or using "http://192.168.20.5"
so im kinda stuck as to what to do if anyone can give me a hand, thanks

I think unRAID has a GUI does it not? You can go into the desktop and make sure it's working correctly.

 

If all you have is a CLI you could run the commands that bring up your interface information and make sure it hasn't changed.

 

Did you reserve 192.168.20.5 in your router? If not DHCP in your router may have handed it out to another network device and all your attempts to connect to your server are going to said device.

in the gui of unraid it says the ipv4 address is set as 192.168.20.5 and using the "ifconfig eth0" command after logging in as root admin, it says thats the ip as well, but i cant seem to find that in my routers route, arp, or dhcp tab, and im not sure where else to look, but so far it would seem that the dhcp is only taking 2 slots of the router and that is the .2 and .3 slots but not the .5 that i set for the unraid server

so im just stuck as to where to find the server in my router, or what to set it up as to work properly through the router, my router is a "Netcomm Wireless NF8AC ADSL/VDSL 1600 WiFi Gigabit Modem Router" if that helps any and im connected via ethernet to the pc, and wifi with the macbook

Under normal circumstances the only configuring that needs to be done in the router is the reserving of the IP address or the shrinking of the DHCP pool. Both prevent duplicate address errors.

 

Consumer routers don't always report connected clients correctly in their WebUI. I don't trust it as a accurate measure of communication. Better option is to ping 192.168.20.5 from another computer on the network. See if you get a reply. If not the issue is likely the server itself or a network cable.

So you definitely only have 1 router in your network? i.e only 1 DHCP server running? The gateway on unRAID shows the IP address of your router?

Have you tried configuring the IP settings manually?

 

Can you drop to terminal and run 'ifconfig -a' and check the interface e.g eth0 or ens33 has your mac address, IP address, netmask & gateway?

Can you ping from unRAID to the gateway?

Well, Unraid does not support WiFi out of the box.
