Usually people ASK the forum question PRIOR to buying a GPU.

You did the reverse., but it's a SoLID GPU for 1080p and most 1440p situations.

I wonder why this thread was created,.. you have the new one already,.. you want to know the difference, but that SHOULD be right in front of you and clear on screen.. if you have installed it already.

I just find it a little weird you already bought it,..................... and then asked how it goes.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

I'm a little unclear here. Are you still having the same issues with the 1660 ti? What monitor are you using? Is this just a case of buyers remorse? Are you still within the return windows?

Being "worth the upgrade" is subjective.
For me, it was worth the upgrade to go from a 1080Ti to a 2080Ti.
