Are you doing 240hz gaming? Because something something Ryzen 7 3700X same ish performance cheaper.

Did you already buy your RAM or the CPU?

GN has a list.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

What are your needs? How many drives do you want to connect? How many fans? How many USB do you need? Or pcie lanes? How many expansion cards (controller, music etc) do you want to use?

That should be main reasons to buy expensive motherboards.

Of course OC factor is important too, but it's somehow strange when someone buying big atx motherboard and connect one drive to it, one gfx card and nothing more.

the only valid reason to get a 9900k is if it's second hand because someone else has already upgraded to ryzen lol

or if someone just wants the best gaming CPU on offer atm.

I also want 64 fetabyte on ramz, please let it be real goat feta for extra performance and lower latency.

On a serious note Aorus master should be a nice choice (I would buy it):

Still overkill. Plz do not be stupid and waste your money.

System uses 3-6gb of ram.  so with 32gig you will have allwasy over 25gig for gaming and editing

Ryzen 9 3900x is better at editin etc than i9 9900k and its almost identical in gaming. The ryzen 9 3950x is as good as i9 9900k in gaming and the ryzen 9 3950x is far better than i9 9900k in editing since it has douple the cores and threads

You don't need 64GBs of RAM just for effects editing and video editing, even 32GBs is a bit overkill, but RAM is cheap right now.

The 12 or 16 core Ryzen CPUs are likely to be a better bet then, pretty much the same gaming performance, especially if you aren't trying to push 240hz gaming.

What is your budget for everything and what country?

64GB ram is great, especially for AfterEffect that can eat everything you have, even 128GB.

Please do not propose "32 GB is enough" since you don't know how someone wants to use it.

If OP has money, he can even use extra 32 GB for ramdisk if he wants to process lot of video files as fast as possible. Or use it for download / unpacking / whatever.

I have 32 GB of ram but consider buying another 32 GB and increase my ramdisk from 10 to 30 GB. Not everyone uses computers only for games. Someone wants to have more ram, no matter if is worth it (money) or not, just for better computer experience. If OP can utilize it - 64GB is great. And if OP wants i9-9900k and money is not a problem for him, 9900k is great choice. If he prefers Intel, it's his choice.

Then Ryzen will be fine and either be cheaper or give you some extra CPU cores

You really don't need that kind of PSU

32GBs will be plenty, if not you can always add another kit later.

If you aren't doing watercooling in the 011 Dynamic, I'd just  get an H500 for all of the airflow.

Aorus master is one of the best for 9900k and OCing it (one of the best VRM of the z390 boards).  Combo is nice for high refresh gaming, 8/16 can do a lot, adobe suite (premiere and PS, PS especially due to unmatched single threaded speed).

Can take it back a notch on PSU, that thing is probably overkill and costly (80+ gold works great).

It would be hard to recommend that much RAM unless you are doing something big and taxing.  Gaming only, 16gb is great.  Some productivity stuff as well most people are more than fine with 32 gb.  Can save a buck or two there.  By the time you are pushing your PC to use 64 gb you would probably be better served by a productivity focused CPU (3900x).  Not that there is NO WAY you could use that much RAM at all, but if you are using that much, your projects would likely be better served by a more workstation-esque CPU.

El Zoido:  9900k + RTX 4090 / 32 gb 3600mHz RAM / z390 Aorus Master

The Box:  3900x + RTX 3080 /  32 gb 3000mHz RAM / B550 MSI mortar

Still overkill. Plz do not be stupid and waste your money.

Not for photoshop/AE lol. Depending on what you're doing you can actually use that. Know a guy who can use all 16c/32t on his TR chip, 128GB RAM, and a 200GB 4x NVMe drive Raid 0 cache all "just" for lightroom and photoshop. It's overkill until you need to push something out very fast to meet a deadline.

If you aren't doing it professionally or on tight deadlines then it's probs overkill though lol.

It is lol. Ringbus is still faster in gaming for some reason, even though some Ryzens can now beat a 9900K in single core cinebench.

And if you tune the cache clocks and RAM on your 9900K it's even better. Improvement in 1% lows as well:
