I think the EVO is one of if not the fastest one out there

840 Pro is faster than the EVO. The new Plextor ones are about on par with the pro.

You'd be looking at PCI SSD's though for faster than that, but for normal desktop use you won't really notice much difference between them apart from the insane price.

One question though which is better Samsung 840 Pro vs Kingston HyperX? On that website it says that the HyperX is faster

The Pro is better, real world. My EVO kicks ass, and it's in a netbook. HDD was getting about 40MB/s, EVO is getting about 150MB/s (my CPU is a bottleneck).

But I would think a 1TB EVO would be faster than a 500GB Pro?

Does capacity have anything to do with speeds? (genuine question, I don't know) but AFAIK, the controller on the Pro is faster and every benchmark I've seen has reflected that one way or another.
