Microphone input picking up output sounds

I have had issues like this for ages now and I have no idea what to do.

My mic is picking up my desktop audio, though the audio is faint. I know that this is a software issue because I can physically mute my mic and the desktop audio will continue to be heard.

to tried reinstalling several different drivers as well as reinstalling windows. I've checked that it isn't stereo mix and I haven't been able to find anything on this issue. I have since upgraded my motherboard and the issue continues to persist.

I have a MSI b450 pro carbon AC and I use the on-board audio. I use the integrated mic on my steel series arctis 3.

Help would be appreciated.

Mmm.. the mute thing wouldn’t help if it’s analog crap.  It could literally be coming in through the wiring insulation.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.
