3TB (90$ compared to 150$ on newegg):

There is also a 4TB, but it costs 200$, so I thought it was not worth posting in this thread.

Edit... here are the specs (I made a mistake and apparently the 2tb and 3tb are not 7200rpm, but some weird "intellipower" speed, whatever the heck that means.:

Model                        Interface       Size     Speed/RPM        Cache

WDBH2D0030HNC SATA 6 Gb/s 3.5 Inch IntelliPower 3 TB 64 MB

WDBH2D0010HNC SATA 6 Gb/s 3.5 Inch 7200           1 TB 64 MB spacer.gif

Edit2: here's an explanation of Intellipower

"The Western Digital drive's IntelliPower algorithm, which varies the rotational speed between 5400RPM and 7200RPM, dictates the Western Digital's rotational speed."

Aren't intellipower ones less than 7200rpm?  I don't usually use WD, so I may be wrong.

Oops, you are right. I think the 2tb and 3tb are indeed lower than 7200rpm. It's not exactly as low as 5200rpm, but it's some different "intellipower" speed that WD are not telling. The 1tb I listed however is 7200rpm. Not that it really matters all that much if you just use them for storage and have an SSD boot drive though.

Indeed true!  Very cheap prices for storage.  Tempted to pick up a bunch... Hmmm

I just went and researched intellipower and apparently it does actually goes up to 7200rpm. It's some weird variable "intelligent" rpm changing algorithm that goes between 5400 and 7200rpm.

not according to what I found. Apparently it's a variable rpm that "intelligently" changes between 5400rpm and 7200rpm.. perhaps it's made to lower power consumption.

I'm stopping by Microcenter tomorrow for a couple things. This might blow me further over my budget, but I'm very tempted.

if you have to insist you think for yourself, i'm not going to believe you.

Awesome deal, just a little question are these the WD black series?

No, they're generic WD drives. Frankly I doubt the performance is noticeable from a WD black drive. Warranty is also the same 2 year thing, so I wouldn't worry.
