How about just using NVIDIA's Fast V-Sync? Zero tearing, no special latency for input, works with ANY display. I've been using this on my 144Hz monitor and has been great for years. It never even crosses my mind to go and buy FreeSync or G-Sync monitor, it's THAT good. I only heard it's an issue on 60Hz displays since it's dropping frames after 60fps, but on 120Hz it really shouldn't be a problem. At least I don't see any on my 144Hz and some games don't always hit 144fps at all times (like recent NFS Heat which floats in 80+ fps region in worst conditions and rock solid 144fps in less demanding). Zero tearing, butter smooth experience.

Adaptive V-Sync also works, but I do spot occasional image tearing in some games. Minimal, but is present sometimes in rare conditions.

Nvidia's instructions to enable GSYNC on this TV include:

"3. Connect your TV via HDMI to your GeForce RTX or GeForce GTX 16-Series GPU or laptop"

Maybe I don't understand the branding information properly... But does this mean it won't work on my 1080 TI's in SLI?

Why didn't they just use display port on the TV...

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Correct, only the RTX 2000's and GTX 1600's support this feature on this TV.

Yep.  Only the newer RTX and 16-series work with it.

Odd it be since the 1080Ti has a HDMI 2.0b like the newer cards.

Personally, I rather wait out for GPUs with HDMI 2.1 to fully leverage the newer LG OLEDs.

Hi ,

I have a lg c9 I wanted to try the gsync option on my tv.

It works fine but ofc when I connect my pc to my tv (instead of my receiver) I can only get Stereo and no surround.

My receiver is probably not Earc ready ( denon x2200w).

Is there a way around this problem to still get to use gsync and get surround sound without buying a new receiver ?

Thanks in advance.

What connection methods do you have to connect to the receiver at the same time as the TV? I'm thinking pass only image to TV, pass only sound to receiver.

I still really want this TV but it appears the firmware update isn't (yet) available for European models, and is currently limited to North America.

North America model seems to be OLED65B9PUA. Going to their firmware page at https://www.lg.com/ca_en/support/support-product/lg-OLED65B9PUA we see:

5) Featuring NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible (North America region only)

European model seems to be OLED65B9PLA. Similarly looking at their firmware page at https://www.lg.com/uk/support/support-product/lg-OLED65B9PLA there is no mention of G-sync compatible. I'll keep monitoring for it and will buy the TV once they have the firmware update, unless I find another better TV option before then. Anyone else interested outside North America probably will have to do same.

Also for reference following is nvidia's page about it: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/news/g-sync-compatible-2019-lg-tv-available-now/

I was hoping for a way to split the audio and video after they leave the pc. Or use the onboard motherboard hdmi for audio only if that is possible ?

You can certainly set your output sound device through Windows and it doesn't have to be the same connection as the display. I'm not 100% sure you can pass audio on HDMI without video though, so that might be something to check.

If all it takes is another HDMI cable I'd just try it to see if it works.

If anyone still cares about these TVs outside North America region, I noticed the UK B9 model got the G-sync firmware about a week ago, so I just ordered mine for delivery this weekend. The C9 got it slightly earlier at the end of December.

From the CES coverage, I'm wondering if the newer smaller ones would be even better value (cheaper, I don't really need 55"), but who knows how long that might take to go on sale.

I just received my 65" B9 yesterday, upgraded from a panasonic plasma.  The boss wanted a new tv so this is what i went with.  It was a happy Bonus that i found out this tv was gsync compatible.  Annnd then i found out g sync is not supported on my gtx 1070 Ti.  Really nvidia? Really?   Oh well still an awesome tv. I guess g sync will have to wait until i upgrade my graphics card in the next couple years, or nvidia throws its past and potential future customers a bone and adds it to the 10 series.

I bought the new LG C9 with G-Sync and trying to get G-sync to work with my 1080Ti (over hdmi).
I updated both nvidia drivers and tv firmware.

But so far I cant display the "Setup G-sync" menu in Nvidia Control Panel.
What am I missing ?
