80+

Techpenguin101
Go to solution Solved by SenKa,

80+ "White", the lowest tier of certification, is basically a participation trophy.

GENERALLY SPEAKING, higher efficiency PSU's are better and more reliable, because surprise surprise, more efficient components put off less heat and thus last longer.

Heres the "Official" PSU Tier list, IMO nothing B or lower is worth your time. B+ and up.

As long as there's a 80+ certification, the power supply, in most cases (pun totally intended) will not blow up right?

Some people say that below an 80+ bronze (including 80+) will more than likely cause you issues, so I just wanted to make this clear.

The 80+ rating says nothing about how good a PSU is. E.g. the 80+ Gold EVGA G1 NEX is absolute garbage.

There are also cases where the company sends a PSU to get certified, and then sells a different, worse PSU to consumers.

Brands I wholeheartedly reccomend (though do have flawed products): Apple, Razer, Corsair, Asus, Gigabyte, bequiet!, Noctua, Fractal, GSkill (RAM only)
