M-ITX Gaming Build

PMooles

Hello there everyone,

Just wanted to check with everyone here to make sure this build was solid and who better to ask but a forum of fellow computer / tech enthusiasts? Any helpful input or constructive criticism appreciated.

Budget: ~ $1500 Preferred  and  ~$2000 Absolute Maximum (If Necessary)
Location: Central Florida, USA
Aim: Be able to play AAA titles at a minimum of High settings and watch videos / streams at a high quality.
Monitors: Currently only have 1 monitor (1920 x 1080). Plan to upgrade to two monitors within 1 to 2 years.
Peripherals: Keyboard and Mouse are in good condition. Headset is really worn down with broken built-in microphone. Unsure whether to buy good headset with built-in microphone or buy a standard headset and standalone microphone.
Reason for Upgrading: PC was built circa 2014. It has issues with playing newer games and appears to have some kind of overheating issue despite cleaning and checking thermal paste.

Have you looked at the nzxt h210? It’s pretty similar to that define nano, but I personally think it looks a little better.

The 3600 works with the stock cooler just fine as well.

You could probably get the 2070 super for the same overall cost by dropping to a b450m board and a non-Nvme ssd such as the intel 660p.

I replaced for the 3700x for better streaming, better GPU too, PSU is better and the wattage is still plenty. Other than that it's a great build and you could stick with what you did :)

Looks good, but don't buy anything until Black Friday....and even then, pick from what's on sale.
Building right now or even planning is kind of pointless.

Welcome to the forum.

Thank you. Hope to participate a lot. Also, that is pretty much the plan. I have price alerts set up so I get emailed if any of these parts drop to around the lowest price they've been in the last year. Thus, if a part drops that low before Black Friday / Cyber Monday, I'll consider getting it but if not, I'm waiting one more month.

You could probably drop down to a 550w psu if that option is any cheaper, but 650 does leave room for a much more power hungry gpu in the future.

I would suggest a different cooler but it’s mainly because I hate the 212 evo, bequiet pure rock or arctic freezer 34 are quieter.

I think I'm going to compare the 212 EVO with the Arctic Freezer 34; that one looks great. And I just found the most up to date version of the PSU tier list (I think I was using the older version of it). So, I might go with the recommendation of Plouffe or something else in the A+ Tier that meets my needs.

I think I looked at the NZXT H500 when this was still a Micro-ATX build. I'll compare these two to see which better fits my needs.

That's...the wrong way to Black Friday shop for PC parts. Don't be stuck on those parts exactly, or you'll miss out on deeper discounts of higher end parts.

I have accounted for that with the Maximum of the build budget being $2000. If I can get a $800 part for $600, that's a better deal than a $500 part for $400-$450, even if I end up spending in total.  But I should probably add some higher end stuff to the price alert list to cover my bases in preparation of BF/CM.

It's honestly better just to look at the big 4ish companies sales flyers...

Understood. I use Outlet PC and B&H as well as have heard of Adorama. Frys is a new one to me but I'll bookmark so I can check them on BF/CM. Thank you.
