Can't run games on steam

zindan

Can't run games on steam from a mac. Getting an unknown error.
unknown.png.7bd8c0311002665ad1ddb991b2201afe.png

I have tried disabling firewall, firstaid kit on all harddrives, changed region 2-3 times and restarted pc. I think I reinstalled Steam also, I am not sure.

What could the problem be and how do I fix it? Appreciate help thanks!

Try deleting/uninstalling the game and re-downloading it.

Tried to verify the files?

Yes, and I also deleted game cache. Still it's not working. I have no idea.

I did some research about this, MAC x Steam Games Compatibility, it seems after Mac OS X Updates such as the newest one (Catalina) can temporarily break the compatibility, which means the games cannot be launched. If this is the case, then the waiting game applies. Meanwhile you could try;

  • Repairing Steam Library
  • Delete Download Cache
  • Change Download Location on your computer
  • Change Download Location from what you're using to something else, (ex. Sweden to Germany)
  • Download 64 bit version of steam if you are running 32-bit.

If this doesn't work then as I said above, waiting game applies. There has been a few other instances where this has been the fault.

Then I am all out of ideas.. I guess waiting game applies.

Look at this link that I've found, It states that Brawlhalla among a whole list of other games will be updated for 64-bit support soon on OS X Catalina.
https://www.macgamerhq.com/opinion/32-bit-mac-games/

What this relies on is that Catalina Os X uses 64-bit and will only support 64-bit games, that said. Brawlhalla is 32-bit and will soon be updated to be able to run on OS X Catalina!
So It's all about waiting now!

At the very end, you get an answer which hopefully satisfies you :)

Happy gaming out there my Viking Brother ;)

Edit: Also what you could do if you're impatient, is downgrade back to 10.14 OS X Mojave, which I am not too sure how to do.

This is most likely caused by MacOS Catalina update. This is something that the developer and/or Steam has to fix.
