1700x OR 2600

Deuxez

So im planning on upgrading my current cpu, from a r3 2200g to at least an 1600. So i looked on the used market and found one 2600 (bid) thats currently priced around 75$ and it ends in about 2 days from now. I also found a Ryzen 7 1700x (also bid) for about 75$ and it ends in about 3 days. Which one is worth going for? I think the 2600 will probably go for around 100$, and the 1700x for about like 120$+. I think i could just try to win the 2600 bidding and if that doesnt work just wait 1 more day and try to win the 1700x. My budget is around 90-120$.

PC:

rx 480 4gb

8gb dual channel 2666mhz

ryzen 3 2200g

a320m-hdv r3.0

500w corsair PSU (cant remember model)

960gb SSD

500gb HDD

I think a six core should be good enough. I don't think that A320 board would be glad to have an 8core factory OC-d CPU installed.

2600 with some undervolting will suffice.

Life is really challenging. I don't always suceed: )

i'd go for the 2600, but those are almost certainly going to noticeably increase in price

I personally would get the 1700x, but with that trash motherboard it'd be better to get a 2600

1700x is better choice in this case

The motherboard is not really suited for an 8 core but if you are willing to spend some time undervolting and you can get a fan to blow on the VRM, it should be fine.

The life span of the motherboard will be definitely affected with a setup like this but it should last long enough for you to get an upgrade.

Second hand 2600s go around 100-110USD in my country, sometimes with 2.5 year warranty or more. Though new 2600s are only marginally more expensive (120-125USD)

I'd get a B450 board first though. Never understood, why people buy A320 mobos, when, the Asrock B450m HDV is so ridiculously cheap, that it puts some A320 boards to shame.
