Is my phone camera module faulty?

So I bought new budget phone, huawei p smart z, and was happy untill I started to use main camera, on x2 zoom pictures look weird, blurry and whit weird blue color, I don't know if it's a faulty camera module or it's a software bug cuz I had update from emui 9 to 9.1 week after I bought phone, but I went to store to check if it's the same problem whit displayed phone in store and it dose not have such problem, but it's on different software it's specialized for stores so it has demo or such and its emiu 9.

So I'll add 2 Pic, one whit normal no zoom(it's looks good) and whit x2 which looks wired

P. S at store where I bought the phone noone didn't know if its a software bug or hardware fault

Tnx for help :)

it almost looks like the kind of artifacting you see in a composite signal that creates purple and green artifacts around edges.

If you can downgrade the software back to stock that might be your only option , not much diagnostics can be done on mobile phones.

Did a quick google search for the phone, and nowhere does it say that the camera has optical zoom, so what you're effectively doing when using the "2x zoom" is just enlarging the picture digitally without actually capturing any additional pixels. In other words, don't use zoom on the phone itself, as it's the same thing as zooming later in a photo editing application on PC or from the Google Play store.

Maybe it doesn't have optical x2 but still why than same phone(not mine) don't have this problem when it's on x2 zoom? I have myself tested this in store(only difference was software emiu 9 vs 9.1(on mine)) doesn't newer software mean better performance?

But if it's a software bug than how in the heck such big company haven't seen it exists? It's impossible to not see that. And I think cameras in modern times are very important so it even make less sence to not see such bug

microsoft released an update for windows 10 that deletes everything on every hard drive that isnt the OS drive......

So pretty sure Huawei is very capable of not noticing tiny purple lines when using the cheap 2x zoom feature on a cellphone

That's digital zoom and digital post processing for you. Try another camera app maybe?

I don't know what you expect when you picked a device that has the camera as its biggest drawback.

Tryed other camera app and it looks like  it's stock apps fault.

I'm not big camera guy(mostly quick ig stories, posts) , so I don't except anything good from budget phone cameras but it's a first time for me when this happens, have had huawei phones before whit no problems like this.

1st Pic open cam app

2nd stock huawei
