That's a question for Gorgon. All of my boxes are Windows. I'll play around with switching to linux to minimize overhead after folding month.

Main folder:
E5 4610v3

EVGA XC Ultra 1660 Ti

Had a 1050 Ti in there for a bit, had it on an X58 board with an X5670 at one point, tried some CPU folding, all kinds of stuff. That was the most stable CPU GPU combo. Also folded a bit on my RVII in the main rig (most of my over 1 mil days are when I did that).

ooh, a E5 4xxx chip! you don't see those around too often.

how's it treating you?

It does CPU things lol, that's about it. It's a really oddball chip, 10c/20t but 1.7Ghz base. No Turbo Boost, it just runs at 1.7Ghz and no faster. It is incredibly easy to cool for its core count and doesn't eat much power though, I think it sits at .6-.8v or so on the core, maybe up to .9.

Just teamviewered in:
1278806522_ScreenShot2019-11-06at2_21_01PM.thumb.png.082666b1f71146e4301b5af68169b99b.png

It's sitting at .78v and 39-40C. Under full load it'll go up to the mid 50s, maybe 60? It's on an NH-L12S rn, quite a small cooler for an HEDT chip.

I should probably try gaming on it sometime this weekend just to see how it does.

my predictions: not that great. i mean, 1,7ghz? ouch.

that core count and voltage is definitely interesting tough. makes me wonder if this wouldn't be a good chip for some BOINC? tough i really wouldn;t know what project would be best for the chip..

Yeeeeeahh gaming will probably be more of a slideshow. I do have Battlefront II 2005 though so I can see how it handles that.

Haven't messed with BOINC yet, but it should be decent at CPU stuff. Though it can't even beat a 7700K in Cinebench R20 (and that's the generic score they have to compare with too) all-core, so eeh IDK what all workloads it'd really be super good at. I don't even know why it exists, it was the cheapest Xeon for 2011-3 at the time I bought it (that wasn't an ES, they have issues with some mobos). And ofc now they're selling 12 cores with a decent turbo for the same price ?.
