Intel core i9 9900k or AMD Ryzen 9 3900x

I want to build my own PC for  High Gaming & Video Editing.

GPU: RTX 2080Ti

Monitor: Dual Monitor.

CPU: Intel core i9 9900k or AMD Ryzen 9 3900x?

Which one will be better for long time usage?

Thank You.

If you absolutely have to have the highest FPS possible in games go for 9900k.

If you don't care if you get marginally worse FPS then go with 3900X.

For video editing the 3900X is definitely better though.

Just for comparison, I went from i7 4770k 4.6GHz to 3900X stock and I have significantly more FPS in every game (playing at 165Hz 1440p with 1080ti).

Both will work, you should research the difference and prices and see what suits you the best.

The R9 3900X can bottleneck the 2080 Ti depending on your display and graphical settings so it' something to be wary of... video editing the i9 and r9 trade blows with Premiere favoring the i9 9900K and Vegas Pro/DaVince favoring the R9 3900X but on both instances they are comparable.

What use would more corse be if you can't utilize them?

No way of knowing. If Adobe moves towards supporting more cores, then you'd benefit from a Ryzen 9 cpu, if they don't, then the i9 will probably be superiour in most cases. Games can only be split up into so many parallel threads so you won't benefit from more cores here. If you want to work with multiple programs open or maybe even also some VMs on top of it, then you better go with that Ryzen 9 chip (or maybe even wait for the 3950X).

Gamingwise, the 9900k is still king - but not by that big of a margin.

If you will be playing on a 120hz+ monitor I'd consider the 9900k. It will allow you to reach your targeted frequency more easily. I personally went with the 9900k + 2080 Ti combo because at home I pretty much only play or do tasks that require not much raw power.
