Cooler Master V8 Gts

I can't find much on the V8 GTS besides these sources:

And all those tell is that it looks awesome. The second one actually gives some claims from Cooler Master. What do you guys think? Do you really think this cooler is going to compete with closed-looped water cooling systems like Cooler Master claims? Or do you think it weighs so much it will destroy your motherboard? And last, do you think this will perform equal or better than the next generation of the Noctua NH-D14?

Space is pretty awesome.

Buddy of mine has this cooler - he "likes" it for the looks. That is all I can get out of him. :) Typically CM make pretty good air coolers. Many high end air coolers will compete with all but the highest level AiO units as well. Will it stand up to the latest Noctua, Phanteks or Thermaltake - hard to say, but guessing, I would say no. But, let's quantify that... It may only be 3C or 4C less then say a Noctua... hard to say...  Will it work though - most definitely. :) Is it heavy? Oh Yes!

Would this be compatable with a fm2 socket?

 

As long as it's compatible with AM3 then it will be for FM2. AM2, AM2+, AM3, and AM3+ all use the same mount.

The Cooler Master V8 is well known for being supremely crappy. It is an extreme underperformer compared to surface area.

 

Not sure about the GTS though it looks a lot more intelligently designed.

EDIT: Sorry the crappy one is the V10. Dunno about any V8. Ignore me.

yeah, semi-old thread, but a few reviews have popped up of this cooler recently

 

I'm actually thinking of getting it. Cooling performance is so-so, price is a little high, but the looks are definitely unique - looks like a great departure from simple heatsink towers with fans slapped on them

 

sadly most sources say release date is in August...we'll see if I'm still interested by then

Yes the 612 looks really really nice. Might pick it up when or if I do a new build.

The original V8 cooler was a really good cooler for its day, however prime time for it has long since passed as it now competes against mid range coolers instead of at the top of the pack where it use to be. The V10 sucked the crap ring off a toilet it was so bad, it would get outperformed by $35-45 air coolers with ease.

Looks like in can be added to transformer movie :D looks Pretty cool. I think this would fit extreme air mod.
