Possible AMD Build 2019/2020 - What should I change?

Hey guys I was wondering what I should change in this build! My budget is ~$1500USD I will be using it for gaming and rendering (video and deeplearning models)
The build needs 32gb ram as many of my tasks use 12gb+, It also needs a bluray reader as I still like physical media.

Go for a Zen 2 CPU, 3rd gen Ryzen brings lots of performance upgrades. Also, in that budget you could go for a X570 board (PCIe 4.0).

1. i think an Amd ryzen 5 3600 would fit and it is not too expensive and it is newer (3rd amd gen) cpu.

2. I wouldnt trust msi evoke too due to the thermal solutions. gigabyte is cheaper and better at that or anything else except xfx.

Unless you cant find anything else for gpu other than msis's...and propably you find them because they dont choose them for the reason said.

3. The case is too expensive although a good one. But there are other mid cases cheaper and doing the same job. It is offcourse completely upto your taste  for that.

Should double check any DRM issues running blu ray drives on PCs, for almost the same price though you can get a used xbox one to play blu rays. or a one S for 4k blu rays.

Should get the 3000 series, you're spending too much on the case/cooler and power supply, and I'd recommend a case with a front mesh.

The Nitro+ is better than the evoke

the 660p series is fine. Maybe add a 2/4TB hard drive.

This case has a 5.25" slot anyways.

I recommend you to get external blue ray drive because some modern cases with good reviews don't support 5.25 drive bay.

Agree with this, should go for external blue-ray reader so as to not limit your case options, and be forced to go for older(and more expensive) cases.

Here are my thoughts:

  • Do you have additional storage? 500GB will run out awfully fast. With pricing the way it is right now, I'd really try and put a 1TB NVME in there.
  • I would get a 550w or 650w PSU, unless the 750w is the same price.
  • I wouldn't get an MS motherboard.
  • Stepping up to the 3700x would be better. Perhaps consider the 3600/x as well.
  • Using an external Bluray player makes more sense.

Other than that it looks like a solid build.

Thank you for the info on the evoke, had not realized it had temp issues. will switch to 3600 or possible 3600x if budgets works. Generally for a case I want it to be durable, have a full side window (non plastic/acrylic), and have mininum 1 5.25" if you have any suggestions im completly open
