Will a 500w power supply work for a core i7 7700k and 1070 ti

Hey I’m looking to upgrade my PC’s CPU and GPU soon and I’m looking at the i7 and 1070 ti but I’m not sure if my evga 500w will do the job. Do I need to upgrade my power supply as well?

Depends on the 500W PSU in question. Why would you not tell us which model it is...?

Replace it. The W series are horrible.

I own the same PSU, and I have no problems running an overclocked GTX 970. I believe it would be fine with a GTX 1070 but, I don't know about a 1070ti and a 7700k, that might be pushing limit. 650+ watt should be safe.

Luck you. The W1 is not good at all. It's arguably worse than even the S12II. The issue isn't wattage, it's everything else

It is better than the POS that it replaced, it was $40 new and I installed it in a very cheap oem acer but, for the setup @SirSpideySenses is going for, maybe the BR or BQ series or higher end is a better option.

BTW @5x5 you have not explained why the W1 is not good, and of course the W1 is not as good as the S12ll, they are different tier levels.

It should be able to power it, but I'd still recommend replacing it with a decent PSU.

As we all know, anecdotes trump data.

Odds are that you paid $40 to downgrade your PSU. At $40, that's at least $39 more than it's worth.

:)
