What would happen if I plugged in my 2019 15" MBP to my desktop motherboard that has a gen 1 Type-C? Will the MBP charge or just completely kill the USB C port? Asking for a friend

That actually depends, but most motherboards support charging external devices via USB-C, though this is more meant for phones so you would be lucky if your MBP would even detected a charge, or even if it did if it actually charged at all.

 

No damage would be done though.

probably just charge. no harm in trying. i would hope that if its a good mobo, it would have protection for overcurrent. usbc can draw upto 100W so your risk if something messes up

AsRock does not tell me at what spec the USB-C port puts out... FFS.
