Improving the blow

Hello, So i recently purchased a vega 56, but it's a blower cooler so i was wondering ways to improve it's cooling performance. I already had plans to cut up the IO shield on the exhaust, and have applied liquid metal so improve thermal transfer, but i was wondering if there was anything else i could do besides buying a better cooler.

Undervolt the card, then. You could also set a more aggressive fan curve.

 

Also be careful with the liquid metal, don't want that to short your GPU otherwise you'll really be screwed.

Would it be worth it to slice some holes in the side of the shroud

swap the cooler, im not sure what options you have for stealing coolers from dead cards but you could always use a Morpheus 2 with some decent fans, have a friend with a 64 and that cooler and its really really nice

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

have you already reduced core voltage?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

 

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

 

How many watts do I need? ATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explained, group reg is bad

Undervolting will return waayyyyy better results without destroying the rest of your resale value

That's one of the best ways to reduce temps on Vega, since they shipped with pretty excessive voltage.

well thanks there dude.  If only i had known that blower coolers were trash then i still would have bought the card because it was a good deal and i needed a new gpu.
