Unless you are using a 1440p or 4K native monitor the 2080ti wouldn't really be worth it over the 2080 Super. If you're just playing at 1080p 144hz the 2080 Super is more than enough. And as @dizmo stated unless you are down-scaling your monitor to 1080p from 1440p it doesn't work like that.

Hey guys, im about to upgrade my gpu

My pc stats:

Intel Core i7-7800X @ 3.50GHz

ASUS TUF X299 MARK 1

2x geforce Msi 980 ti sli

1000 watt powersupply

Corsair Vengeance Black DDR4 3600MHz 2x8GB

So the gpu’s i was thinking was either 2080 super oc or 2080 ti oc.

Witch One i worth buying, with my current stats?

Do i get a huge bottleneck? and is gpucheck.com a legit site, when it comes to compare hardware?

no bottle neck.

go for 2080ti and sell the 980's to recoup loss.

or go second hand on 1080ti or 2 if money ain't a problem

If you want to sell those 980Ti's off quick and cheap, I know someone that'll buy them ;)
What's your monitor like? The 2080 Super is good enough in most cases, however if you want the best of the best, which your build seems to follow, then I'd go for the 2080TI.

That price jump though...

A friend of mine does 4K video rendering and tons of 3D modeling and animation. He just upgraded from the 2080ti to the RTX Titan(He's absolutely loaded). He sold me his Rog Strix 2080ti Gaming OC for $850! So I am selling my 1080ti to get some money back all together I'm only spending about $350 on the 2080ti because I can easily get $500 for my 1080ti FTW3, not really relevant but I'm excited :)

I'd say personally if you want the best of the best and have the money get the 2080ti go for it. And as others have suggested sell the 980's to get some of your money back lowering the hit of the 2080ti's steep price.

It doesn't really work like that. The monitor is what the monitor is, you can't reach other resolutions unless you've downscaled it for some reason.

The 2080 Super should be more than sufficient for that.

Does NVIDIA not have VSR like AMD?

I honestly don't see why you want to upgrade GTX 980TIs in SLI just yet, for either resolution, unless you are hitting a VRAM bottleneck of some sort (unless you have the 6GB 980tis).

Even at 1440p or 4k the difference between a 2080S and 2080Ti isn't really worth the 2x price increase.

It truly is just for people who must have the absolute best of the best without any thought of cost.

Or, as I compare it, those who have super lifted pickups.

I do have the 6GB 980 ti, and I would get a magnificent increasing if I choose 2080s. I heard that the game industry Is moving away from sli and going for nvlink, and the games are not that compatible/supporting with sli anymore

If you have the money, go for it. Screw it! :)

Honestly, I would like to see ray traced games fully support SLI/NVLINK as it seems pretty necessary right now for good FPS.
