PC vs PS4 UK Prices

grangervoldemort

Yo. There are some INSANE prices. Let me explain.

COD WWII, Shadow of the tomb raider, Detroit become human

PC Steam: £45, £45, £30

PS4 Preowned game.co.uk: £8, £15, £20

What gives?! Why don't PC game prices drop as much as PS4's do?!

Becauuse there aren't preowned PC games. You can't sell them again.

Preowned. Used. That's why they're cheaper. At least compare new to new e.g. Steam vs official PS store.

I suppose in most cases there is no difference in buying a "used" game compared to new. There have been titles in the past where the first person to buy it gets a one-time activation code for bonus content, which would be consumed and not included if game later resold. I don't know if that applies to any of these.

Main system: i9-7980XE, Asus X299 TUF mark 2, Noctua D15, Corsair Vengeance Pro 3200 3x 16GB 2R, RTX 3070, NZXT E850, GameMax Abyss, Samsung 980 Pro 2TB, Acer Predator XB241YU 24" 1440p 144Hz G-Sync + HP LP2475w 24" 1200p 60Hz wide gamut
Gaming laptop: Lenovo Legion 5, 5800H, RTX 3070, Kingston DDR4 3200C22 2x16GB 2Rx8, Kingston Fury Renegade 1TB + Crucial P1 1TB SSD, 165 Hz IPS 1080p G-Sync Compatible

Preowned prices for PS4 aren't that different to new prices for older titles.

You cannot get those games used on PC as they are digital only as far as I am aware. PC gaming is MUCH more expensive than console gaming now. LONG LIVE CONSOLE GAMING.

Not true. Rise of the Tomb Raider I picked up for 12$ still sealed/brand new for Xbox One in a local electronics store. While on Steam it was still around 40$ lol.

I picked up all Tomb Raider tiles + DLCs (including Tomb Raider 2013) on Steam for 10€ in I think 2014.
So what? Sometimes there are good deals, sometimes there are shitty deals.

And Shadow of the Tomb Raider is currently 18,99€ new on PC.

DEALS. You have to be on the site at the right moment. I can get a PS4 new for £350 with a free game AND get all those games above at those prices TODAY. And tomorrow. And the day after. ETC.

You can't get SOTTR for £18 on PC legit. With those dodgy CD key sites maybe.

Console gaming freaking rules. Cheap as chips games, no need to wait for downloads as all games come on disc and I think you can get them digitally if you so please. PC games no longer are released on disc (can't find COD WWii on PC DVD/Bluray) and haven't budged in price.

A 2070 Super GPU alone will cost almost twice the amount of a PS4; granted its much newer etc etc, but consoles get their games tailor made so don't need very beefy electricity consuming hardware to run them.

What monthly fees> You just buy a PS4 and buy the game. There are no fees wtf. You don't even need an internet connection probably. PS3 doesn't need one.

I buy all my games from either the publisher directly, or Steam or MMOGA, which isn't selling keys illegally.

Safe and legal are two different things, some of them might be safe just like you can buy Windows 10 license keys from Ebay for like 2$.

But it being legal and a good practice in the long run is a different story. Plus when you buy games and software legit you support the developers, and I know there are a lot of "evil corporations" out there you don't want to support, like how everyone wants EA and Ubisoft to burn and crash.. Yet you go out of your way to get their games. It's amusing to me.

No they are not safe. Plenty of complaints about additional money being taken from bank accounts and the like. Only resellers and the official site/steam are places to buy PC games that are ALSO legal.

CD key sites are 'grey sites. Additionally the keys from those grey sites MAY or may not work in time.

Console games are far far far far far cheaper.

£45 vs £8. Period.

MMOGA is affiliated with over 10.000 publishers and you're telling me it's illegal and doesn't support the devs, while Steam takes most of the cash.
And you think you're supporting the devs? Funny guy.

Enjoy your 24-30 fps with absolutely no way to change the way the game looks and plays in any way all you want. Sure you might hit 45-60 fps in a select few games that aren't graphically demanding but good luck with all that lag and instability.

How bout £18.41?... Shadow of the Tomb Raider 60% Off + 15% Off Coupon Code. And that's just today.

Between August 29th and September 4th, Shadow of the Tomb Raider was £17.96 at GreenManGaming. And they also gave out 12% coupon codes throughout August. Which brings that price down to £15.81.

On August 25th and August 26th, Shadow of the Tomb Raider was £11.79 at GamesPlanet.

From July 26th to August 2nd, Shadow of the Tomb Raider was £17.96 on Steam itself.

Paid £0.00 for every single one of those games in just the past nine months alone from one solitary website. Imagine if I listed the rest of the games that I got for £0.00 over the past few years from dozens of other legit websites. £8.00? Try £0.00.

Then there's the dozens of games I get for £0.91 to £8.00 among these websites. Some of us don't ever pay anywhere near £18.00 for ANY games. Completely legit and run as flawless as can be. There's a reason my Xbox One collects nothing but dust. Even obtaining games for free on console twice a month doesn't mean I'll ever play them because the unsmooth, unstable and laggy frame rates I just cannot go back to when I'm hitting above and beyond 100+ fps.

Almost none of those games you list are AAA....

Is gaming on a PS4 Pro that bad? I would be gaming on a 4K TV. I would get the PS5 when it comes out to replace the PS4 - IF I choose to go down the console gaming route.
