Bitcoin Q & A - Ask Me Anything

What do you suggest I do if I wanna do both make money and help support the network?

To make money:

Get a job.

To support the network:

Mine on your graphics card while away from your computer. Also, try to adopt the currency and tell friends and family about it.

How folding can be profitable instead of mining?

Usually miners try to get some money out of their efforts.

Folding gives you the satisfaction of knowing that you put in time and effort into a cause that is greater than any one person can do (without getting anything in return)

So in short, if you fold lots (think multiple 64-core machines running 24/7) you will become a billionare

Currently it's $137 USD.

Keep in mind this is ever changing. It also changes based on where you get them. Remember, the price is not defined. The price is made based on what people are willing to give for them.

If you are curious on their prices, you can go to https://mtgox.com/ and view the "Last Price" amount at the top. Mt.Gox handles the most bitcoins compared to any other site so their prices are the most "accurate".

You may find them cheaper other places though.Or more expensive.

hahaha 137 times have changed... times have changed

Also are you still bitcoin mining

what software is best to mine 1 bit coin at this point in time, and how long will it take to run  on my rig, spec in my sig

On your current setup, mining at 100% 24/7, it will take 2742.46 YEARS to mine a single coin. This is on the current difficulty, which will increase as time goes on. So you are likely going to take longer than that.

If you want to support the network, run a node. If you want to make money, find a job.

hi,
i was tried to minig BTC in pool last time in cca year 2012 or 2013 :)
ive readed some forums if its worth to run minning on my new (half year old) desktop pc.

with config i5 4690k and geforce gtx780, 8GB RAM.

and it is possible to run mining on GPU and CPU simultaneously ? or what will bring more succes, GPU or CPU ?

ive find some information that is possible to get cca. 500 hashrate with my GPU. can it be true ?

and another Q: litecoin cost less than BTC. so that means that is possible to earn faster less amouth with LTC ?

PS: i found info on :

http://www.coinwarz.com/cryptocurrency

and

http://www.reddit.com/r/litecoinmining/comments/1wguw4/expected_hash_rate_on_nvidia_gtx_780/

IF you had free electricity, it might be worth it. As long as your goal is to NOT be making any money, and simply to help increase the overall power and security of the network, i say go for it.

However if your only motive is for profit, that boat already came and left. Sorry dude. No money to be found here.

as i said above, if you are trying to help the BitCoin network go ahead. If you are trying to make money, you wont.

If there were a magical dongle, that plugged in via usb, and made free money... EVERYONE would be using them. The fact that the free money has not happened, and very few people have them at all, shows that it just is not profitable anymore.

Another idea, BitNodes has an incentive program for running a full BitCoin Node. I am currently taking part in that program.

If you have spare hardware, or money to spend, check this out:

https://getaddr.bitnodes.io/nodes/incentive/

I guarantee you, if you make any money at all through BitCoins it will be through this and not mining.

I hope this helps

So I have a pc at home not doing anything 26 days a month, I don't know any more than the previous sticky thread about Bitcoin.

What is a good place for me to learn on how to turn my pc into something useful?
