I'm willing to take desperate measures.

Wow, it seems no one has had a sore throat before. Warm water and salt. Gargle it. It'll pull the stuff out your throat and begin to heal. Salt water is the best remedy also for new tattoos and piercings.

I'm no doctor, but when I get a sore throat.

 

I make a cup of hot coco, follow directions on package, then add 1/8 teaspoon of cayenne pepper.

 

The cayenne pepper helps relieve that scratchiness you may get with a sore throat, the coco helps keep the cayenne pepper from burning your mouth.

 

It sounds weird, but that's my home remedy.

Drink water. Cough/ throat medicine does nothing from my experience.

I've tried taking Robitussin this past week, a cough syrup. And I tried gargling before...but to no avail. Must I be doing it wrong?

Needs some chicken noodle soup :P. No but seriously, I have no clue. The last time I had a sore throat was when I was a kid, and I don't remember much of any remedies then.

Go to a doctor, it could be an infection in which only antibiotics will treat properly. if it is an allergic reaction, try taking antihistamines or something like benadryl. Something cold like ice cream can help temporary.

yes that is very effective, but be sure you don't mix it with NaOH.

Warm up a shot of wiskey, put a bit of honey in it and down it. That will end your sore throat right there most of the time.
