WD Black NVMe vs Samsung 970 Evo plus

I'm building a new PC and was wandering if there's a noticeable difference between the WD Black NVMe and the Samsung 970 Evo plus. I plan on getting 250gb as the OS drive, and the WD is about $10 cheaper.

I've had a 500GB 2nd gen WD Black and now a 1TB 970 Evo, one is faster at reads and the other is faster at writes, no noticeable difference in most use cases. I'd assume it's the same for the newer WD Black and the 970 Evo Plus line.

Just get slower yet even larger capacity drives with DRAM, like MX500 or 660p, those things... speed of booting up the OS isnt really affected by the drive's transfer rate, but the drive's random read write performance.

I already have a 1tb 860 evo I use for storage, so getting a larger drive isn't something I need really.

In that case there's still the HP EX920/950 and Adata SX8200 Pro. HP drives are a little slower, Adata drives are just as fast. Not sure if you can use PCIe 4.0, but Sabrent Rocket is the fastest if you can use PCIe 4.0. I think it's still faster on PCIe 3.0 even since none of the mentioned drives hit the max of PCIe 3.0 x4.

You could just pick up a 1tb Intel 660p for 85 or the 2tb for 170. Ya it is slower on read/writes but you would never notice it unless all you do is move huge amounts of data.
