Can a GTX series card handle ray tracing?

I just heard that Minecraft bedrock edition is going to have ray tracing support. Will a gtx 1070 be able to handle it?

I'm pretty sure 10 series cards did get ray tracing support in a driver update, can the 1070 handle it? probably not.

barely, just for kicks really. I tested Quake RTX on my Titan and got a butter smooth 40 fps

 

if you want really pretty screenshots it works great.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Since Mojang is now backed by Microsoft, I expect use of DXR standard in DX12 rather than RTX stuff so yeah, a Pascal card like the 1070 shouldn't be as bad as trying to enable RTX on Pascal. Tho judging how the SEUS PTGI mod demands on hardware, the 1070 should struggle with frame rates at 1080p regardless. Taking screenshots tho will be its main use.

My 1080ti did 9-15 fps in the raytracing tests, so 1070? Probably not.

 

But minecraft RTX? Maybe, i don't think it will be as intense as the full on raytraced benchmarks.

It's unknown if they're going to utilize the RT Cores on the bedrock edition, because on the PTGI edition the RT Cores aren't even used, so RTX didn't provide any benefits but if they're going to utilize the RT Cores, it will most likely be harder to run on GTX GPU's

Technically yes, realistically no. I have a 1080ti and RTX is too much, the hardware is just not capable enough to run it.  As for Minecraft RTX we have no clue how that will run, considering mods like SEUS PTGI which on max settings can be very, very, demanding I would say that real RTX will be harder. Honestly I'd say no, I don't think a 1070 would be able to run it that well, I even have doubts about my 1080ti. I don't want to point out the obvious but if you want to use RTX and actually have a good time you'll want to buy an RTX card.
