is the A320 chipset really as bad as everyone says?

I have already made a post a while ago on this but it was like a month ago but anyway.

If I have zero interest in over clocking or upgrading my RAM would an A320 be fine for gaming? Idk if that’s enough info if you need more and I’ll be happy to provide

It is just absolutely pointless, A320 mobos are like 5-10$ cheaper than b350, but are far worse in every way. So just paying a few bucks more is a logical conclusion.

But if you create a super budget build with a320 and a r5 1600 then it technically is fine for gaming.

I only see your reply if you @ me.

A320 is just as bad as they always told you yes.

to name a few

memory only goes up to 2666 mhz

vrms throttle under everything higher than a r3

no support for zen 3000

higher failure rate

just... cheaply built, but not cheap enough to justify buying it

i highly recommend you get b350, b450, x370, x470 or x570

Forget about price could someone explain to me what else apart from overclockability why is it bad

Slower memory, usually less driver support, cheaper build quality, and memory compatibility issues.

Yes, H310 and A320 are both horrid and should not be purchased under any circumstances.

Eeeeh, even then I wouldn't buy one - I'd get a refurbished or used B350/B360

Not everyone is fond of buying used

Plenty of refurbished boards and businesses sell them with warranty as well.

I had a Gigabyte A320M-s2h v2 paired with RTX2080 + Ryzen R5 3600 with Manual O.C at 4.3GHz 1.45V stable with Ryzen Master + TeamGroup 3200MHz CL16 16GB + EVGA G3 850Watt with Triple monitor (2x1080p + 1x2160p). Yeah I know, diss me, I got extremely limited budget and I spent all of it on component that actually improves my gaming experience. I bought the A320M used for $40US for my R52600 that was clocked at 4.2Ghz stable.

The only game I played is Overwatch at high setting and I get a stable 300FPS 1440p in game at 61C GPU temp with custom cooling (Morpheus II + 2xNoctua AF12x25 connected to Commander Pro) and 60C CPU temp with Corsair H100i V2 with 2xCorsair ML120 fans. All fans on Balanced mode with Corsair iCue.
CINEBENCH R15.038_RC184115 score of 1638.

I'm not sure what the ambient temperature is as I don't have a thermometer. I live in Indonesia and it was summer now, my AC was set at 24C.
My single core score was 198.
I only used D.O.C.P profile for my memory as I can't O.C it somehow even with DRam calculator as it'll just keep crashing even with the slightest change to frequency or timing (bad memory module?).

I had been using the board for 1 year with R5 2600 clocked at 4.2Ghz stable, and 1 month for R5 3600 4.3Ghz stable. So... yeah... I don't get why people keep saying it a sh1t board, and x570 is so much better and "safer".

Limiting you to what you can do with them aside, they just are not built very well in most cases. And the prices are not that much cheaper. Same with the B350 boards last time I checked. They are not that much cheaper than a b450. If it was a 50 or 100 dollar price difference then yes it would be a bargain and you could probably get buy with one for normal usage. However when you can get a better product for really not much more money it doesn't make sense.

Now if you already had one and were broke, then sure, do what you have to. Or if you could grab one for 10 bucks or something and you were a kid with no money.

I wouldn't say the x570's are better, or safer for that matter. They only real advantage I see with them is you don't have to update the bios first for a 3000 series cpu. And even with those I wouldn't buy one under the 200 dollar price point. So unless it specifically had features you had to have I wouldn't spend that much money on one.

I just took a quick look at newegg. A320 boards are between 55 and 150 dollars. B350 boards are between 65 and 200 dollars. B450 are pretty much the same price, 70 dollars up to the low 200's. There is actually one on sale right now for 60 bucks. X370 and 470 boards start around 100 dollars. So to me it just makes more sense to get a B450 for 15 or 20 dollars more. Even a kid should be able to scrape up 20 bucks doing some odd jobs, yard work or collecting soda cans.
