I have roughly 70€ for a cooler but my case won't fit a Noctua (162 mm height max)

Noctua also makes shorter coolers, like the D15S (160mm).

but really, even the 3700x doesnt have much cooling requirement. Coolers like the Dark Rock 4, Arctic Freezer 34 or CM Hyper 212 Black are already good enough

Never buy 3600X, it's no better than the 3600 when you're replacing the cooler.

Hi

I'm planning on buying a ryzen 5 3600 or 7 3700x

I have roughly 70€ for a cooler but my case won't fit a Noctua (162 mm height max)

My question is, which CPU AIR cooler would be my best choice if I want to do a small/medium overclock?

CM Hyper 212

I can second that. Currently running that cooler on my Ryzen 5 2600 (no overclock though) and so far I have never peaked 52° celsius.

Yeah, just read about it not being any different. Thanks though! :)

Not the standard 212, not the Evo or 212X. I'm specifically refering to the Black since CM finally ditched the scissor mounting frame on the Black

162mm is plenty. What case and ram are you using?

Where are you shopping / located?

I'm gonna continue using my old case which is the Coolermaste scout 2 advanced, as for ram I will probably be getting "Corsair vengeance lpx 3200MHz 2x8GB"

I'm located in Belgium but will probably buy from either Germany or Netherlands

Gelid Phantom would be better: https://www.komplett.be/gelid-solutions-phantom-120mm/80049239/product

The deepcool neptwin v2 is a dual tower for less than $40. It’s 155 mm tall I believe. I have it, works very well very quiet
