Linux distros don't support 4k wtf ?

So on couple installs of distros I found out my resolution can only go up to 2560x1600.  WTF so Linux  can't do 4k ?  This turned me off big time.

Yes it can, you probably didn't have the right drivers installed.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

sudo chmod -R 000 /*

INSTALL

DRIVERS

Are you using the GTX 2080 from your description? If so install the nvidia driver/PPA before getting worried about resolution. Sure default drivers may not support it but Microsoft's basic display driver also has issues with high resolutions.

Fine you want the PSU tier list? Have the PSU tier list: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1116640-psu-tier-list-40-rev-103/

Well most recently I tried Ubuntu Studio and Manjora and Mint Cinnamon.  Am I doing something wrong ?  I dont see above 1600p.  Should it work off the bat or I need to do something.  My screen is like half the monitor size and when I put 1600p it throws the OS out of the monitor.  Is there any steps I have to take, sorry to mention again.  Just weird, how it wouldn't support 4k and what not.

Yes, you need to install the drivers. As I told you to do in the last thread where you asked this.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

People already told you. Install drivers and it works flawlessly. There are even utilities like the one guide I linked. Reading up a bit on the first page of google will reveal the same advice. Drivers. If you want it to be fully automated, buy a Mac. Simple really.

I use Manjaro in one of my systems, Mint I used for a while, went up to 4k, as @Sauron and others pointed out you need to install drivers. That's easy to do, not much of a hassle.

Ya sorry,  I see 390.xx  When I try to install latest driver I have no idea how to do it.  The extension is .run   ... but I launch it nothing happens.  So Im guessing I need a command line for this uh ?

Installing the drivers can be hard/annoying/confusing.  Download the version of Pop OS! with your intended Graphics solution.  Choose Intel/AMD for iGPU/AMD solutions.  Choose NVIDIA for team green.   The driver is pre-installed for you :)

Not gonna lie, Drivers and PPAs are well covered in video and text format all over the place. Even LTT has covered it in their Manjaro video iirc.

Just one gripe. Please stop making your thread titles sound like they are fact.

"Cannot get 4K resolution in Linux" is far more accurate than "Linux distros don't support 4k wtf ?"

That title is almost clickbait level. You've done this a few times and it makes people enter the thread with negativity.

Agree on that, he frequently does this, not just in threads he creates, but in those created by others, always says things like they are facts, even after you show him that he is wrong..

Clickbait, misinformation, and general ignorance are just the turtle way. Hell I'm waiting for the cringe-tier reply in from him in another thread.

I don't get to enjoy that luxury since it seems like he just feels the need to prove himself right to me at all costs.

Seen that thread, fun read for sure... I assume you mean that epic discussion about it being a sin to use hard drives in 2019.
