Hi, recently I got upgraded to a 100GB monthly mobile data contract with unlimited calls and texts within the EU for £27 with EE in the UK, and I'm loving it. My previous plan was 20GB monthly mobile data with unlimited calls and texts within the EU for £22 which was still quite nice.

For more context, here are my family's plans as follows:

  • Me w/ EE
    • 100GB monthly mobile data + unlimited calls & texts within the EU
    • £27 per month
  • Dad w/ Three
    • 8GB monthly mobile data + 1000 minutes and texts
    • <£16 per month
  • Brother w/ Three
    • 4GB monthly mobile data + 1000 minutes and texts
    • <£16 per month
  • Mum w/ Three
    • 4GB monthly mobile data + 1000 minutes and texts
    • <£16 per month

I don't know the exact payment they have for my other family member's plans but I'm certain they pay less than £10 for what they're getting, my dad I am sure is around the same, as I used to be with them on the Three network and their plans were relatively cheap.

I'm the technology powerhouse of the family which is why I now have a plan which is literally quintiple the combined total of all 3 other members of my family. I can always hotspot if they run out! :D

After contrast and comparing my newest plan and my family's plans, it got me wondering...

What's everyone's data plans and what's your reason for selecting your data plan?

The even more shocking thing is there's plans above this, one of the employees in the store I went to was on a 120GB plan with his Samsung Galaxy S10 on 5G, since where I live is one of EE's founding 5G cities.

Eventually I'll be paying for my own line (something about stupid laws in my state) but my parents have an unlimited talk, text and data plan with AT&T. Dunno how much it costs.

I pay $75/month for unlimited talk/text and 4GB of data. That includes...I think $15 or $20/month for the cell phone subsidy.

This thread is just going to make me jealous of what I don't have here in the states.

To save money but still have access to data like a civilized human being I've moved to Google fi, where I'm charged $10 / GB + 30 for two phones (text and calls)

With some very careful planning and enough phone storage to pre-download my music/videos before a trip, I keep my plan under $60/month...

IIRC, my main phone plan costs me about 65USD (local $ converted to USD), and for that, I get:

40GB 4G/LTE data/mth

200mins talktime (hardly use)

200 SMS (hardly use as I use Whatsapp)

HBO GO (24 months, length of my contract)
