Need help with the right ram for my new build

Andrej Zolger

So I started with putting together my new build so far I got:

  • CASE: Carbide series 275r

  • PSU: THERMALTAKE SPS-730MPCBEU

  • MOBO: MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC

  • PROC: Ryzen 3800x

  • COOLER: Be Quiet Dark Rock 4 (not pro)

  • PRIMARY SSD: WD 500GB SSD BLUE SN500 3D M.2 2280 NVMe

  • SECONDARY SSD: Samsung 860 QVO Series 1TB

My question is about the ram since the cooler website: https://www.bequiet.com/en/motherboardcheck

says "the usability of ram slots limited" by the look of the picture of the board I would say the first ram slot will not be usable but that should be fine since I am planning to get 2x16gb of ram.

Currently, I am thinking about something like KINGSTON HyperX Predator 32GB (2x 16GB) 3600MHz DDR4 for the ram

So does anyone have experience with this cooler and can suggest witch ram would be fine or if the suggested one is fine or not?

The ram is 54mm tall and the heatsink only clears ram up to 40mm.

You'd probably need to mount the fan in pull since the cooler would be too tall for the case with the fan raised to clear the ram.

If you ever need help with a build, read the following before posting: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/3061-build-plan-thread-recommendations-please-read-before-posting/

Will this problem be only on the first slot? since normally for 2 slot setup, you use slot 2 and 4 seen from the CPU (checked the motherboard manual)

I also saw this so a pair of ripjaws should work:

As you can see in there, slots 1&3 are using RAM without heasink (or LPX/low-profile). Its the slot 1 which is problematic. But you can change fan to other side or move it up if your case has room for it.
