Ryzen 5 3600 or Ryzen 5 2600 and GTX 1060 3gb?

Title. My tech store has an end of stock discount for the GTX 1060 3gb pricing it at 170€ and the R5 2600 is at 160€. I've got a GTX960 2GB OC.

I was thinking in buying the 3600 and use it on the b450 tomahawk i've bought at a discount aswell since it's new gen and such but doing that would mean i'd have to save money for the gpu for later. Some help deciding would be nice.

My current specs:
FX6300 3.5ghz

Asrock 970 extreme3 r2.0

quad channel 16GB CL9 1600mhz DDR3

MSI GTX960 2GB OC edition

Specs after upgrading
Ryzen 5 3600
MSI B450 Tomahawk
MSI GTX 960 2gb OC edition (or GTX 1060 3gb OC if i buy the 2600)

Dual channel CL16 3200mhz DDR4

Now my concerns are, my system has been having some issues with games lately where its performance is unstable. Games like R6 siege can go from 60 fps all low settings to 20 FPS all low when benchmarking, I'm not sure if it's a MoBo VRM that's about to pop or if it's the GPU that is drawing the last breath

I wouldn't suggest a 1060 3GB in general, is there no RX 570s or 580s?

Also You might be able to find really cheap RX 470s/480s used, they'll work just fine.

I'd get Ryzen 3000 for now and just upgrade the GPU later.

Keep the current card. The GTX 1060 3 GB is not much of an upgrade.

Sell the old hardware, add some money, get a 1660ti or 5700xt

If you want to save some money, you can go with 3000 Mhz memory... it's not as good as 3200 Mhz but still decent. From 2666 to 3600 mhz is less than 5% performance increase, and 3000 Mhz in somewhere around 3% performance bump... good enough.

btw: Amazon UK has the Ryzen 2600 for 123 UK Pounds (136 euro) https://www.amazon.co.uk/AMD-6-Core-Wraith-Stealth-Cooler/dp/B07B41WS48/

Ryzen  3600 is 190 UK pounds or ~210 euro : https://www.amazon.co.uk/AMD-Ryzen-3600-Processor-Cache/dp/B07STGGQ18/

You used to be able to get the R5 2600 on Amazon for $150 USD, considering that the Euro is stronger than the Dollar that does not seem like a great deal, unless that is particularly low for the market.

I would say to go the route that will get you a functioning system now. The great thing about the AM4 platform is that you will be able to upgrade later. So if you ever find that the 2600 isn't powerful enough for you, you can get a 3000 series.

Oh, and don't get the 1060 3GB, get something with 4GB of VRAM at least. Like an RX 570.

Can't you order from Amazon UK or DE (they ship to most EU countries)?

They have a RX 570 4 GB for 129 euro  : https://www.amazon.co.uk/XFX-Radeon-RX570-Internal-Graphic/dp/B06Y64PV2X/

I'm actually selling one of my RX 570 cards locally for 100 euro... pretty much the prices here for RX 570 cards... but even if I'd be willing to mail one to you, shipping to Portugal would cost around 15 euro

Does that mean you can order things from spain's ebay or something? Because there's tons of cheap RX 480s/580s. The ones from china are likely real, and there's buyer protection anyways, though I'd try to find something more local.

They'll still be around in a few months whenever you have the money to upgrade the 960 if you get Ryzen 3000.

PCdiga - They have MSI Armor RX 570´s as low as 139,90 € for the 4gb version.

Globaldata - 144,90 € for the same model.

This is still a very good graphics card for 1080p gaming.

You can always get your money back on ebay, and at least in the US you can buy Ebay gift cards all over the place instead of using a bank account.

What i would do is:

get the R5 3600 and the rest of the system, keep your old graphics card for a couple of more months, save money and get something like a GTX 1660Ti.

The BIOS are still rolling out, it´s just a matter of time for them to be updated.

I believe X470 and B450 boards won´t have much issues. B350 and X370 may have some issues like mentioned by AMD themselves.

You lose PCI-e gen 4 using an older motherboard, but otherwise performance shouldn't change so long as the VRM is decent.

Some motherboards aren't getting Ryzen 3000 support. The MSI B450 boards should be fine, but obviously it would be ideal to get even the cheapest X570 board if possible, or wait for B550 boards.

Some very cheap/older boards don't have a large enough bios chip to support the new bios so they'll never get the updates I don't think.

It's mostly so you aren't stuck with a 3GB video card, the 8GBs on the 480/580 are useful in a few games, better to have it than not to have it.

X570 motherboard are way overpriced... Waiting for B550 chipset is not worth it for someone who wants to upgrade now (only in 2020) He will be fine with a B450 or X470 motherboard.

Oh and i forgot to mention that maybe wait a little bit more for AIB versions of the RX 5700XT with better cooling and you will have a RTX 2070 like performance and get that instead of the RX 580 or gtx 1660ti.

I'll probably wait for AMD to fix the drivers for the RX5700
