Does a GPU give an image right out of the box

Yeah, it just works in the BIOS and Windows typically has some default VGA drivers. You do have to seperately install the AMD Radeon drivers after you have Windows setup though.

It can be helpful to have another PC handy somewhere, just in case the default network drivers of Windows do not cooperate with your motherboard's network card, but that typically works out of the box too.

I'm new into PC building and this may sound like a stupid question. I'm about to build my fist system (for my brother) with an i5-9400f and a radeon rx 550 and since the 9400f doesn't have integrated graphics I'm wondering if you just put the PC together and plug your monitor into the GPU will it work right away and the you'll just have to update drivers after installing windows?
