Should I get a Ryzen 1800X?

I can get an 1800x for 240 CAD or 180 USD, is this a good deal? I know new Ryzen comes out, but I don't care about getting the best gaming performance and even the new Ryzen 5s will cost around 300 CAD. My current CPU is the 4460, so it would be better in every way.

If the economics stay somewhat normal when the other chips release, the 1xxx and 2xxx chips will go down in price. I'd wait it out

If you want a first-gen 8-core, the 1800X just isn't worth it. They go for an average of around $50-$60 CAD used more than the 1700X while offering a marginal performance gap that can be closed with overclocking. The 1700X is a better value at that point, though if you're only gaming, a 2nd generation chip would do you better.

I would wait a month if you can though. Ryzen 1st and 2nd gen parts will likely flood the used market then, pushing prices down.

Pure Wings 3 | Case: Sliger SM580 (Black) | PSU: Lian Li SP 850W

Server: CPU: AMD Ryzen 3 3100 | RAM: 32GB (2x16GB) Crucial DDR4 Pro | Motherboard: ASUS PRIME B550-PLUS AC-HES | Storage: 128GB Samsung PM961, 4TB Seagate IronWolf | GPU: AMD FirePro WX 3100 | Cooling: EK-AIO Elite 360 D-RGB | Case: Corsair 5000D Airflow (White) | PSU: Seasonic Focus GM-850

No, wait for Ryzen 3600 and get that.

According to rumors that model (or was it the 3600X??) beat the 2700...

the 1800x is slower than the 3600, u'd just be clearing out inventories for a retailer. unless it's a 2700/2700x under 175usd, i wouldn't even consider it a deal.
