You'll be fine for probably 3-5 years easily.

Looks pretty good to me.
Only worry about upgrading when your system no longer does what you need it to do.

Future proof is kinda a misnomer, as there isn't anything to guarantee you'll be set for the future, but you certainly have capable parts for the near future. I'm currently still on a 4th gen Intel processor and two or three generations behind the most current GPU for Nvidia, and I see no reason to upgrade at this point. So you should be pretty set. What kind of games you going to play and what resolution/graphics settings are you looking for?

Should be pretty well off then; I wouldn't expect 4k @ 60 FPS or anything but you can easily do 1080 and 1440 I'd say.

That is a very nice 1080p build, will cruise at 60 fps easily across the board and get you into higher frame rates on lower demand titles.  Should be nice for 1440p as well for everything except super high frame rates (>100).

El Zoido:  9900k + RTX 4090 / 32 gb 3600mHz RAM / z390 Aorus Master

The Box:  3900x + RTX 3080 /  32 gb 3000mHz RAM / B550 MSI mortar

Looks like a solid 1080p or 1440p 60hz build. If you're at 1080p you'll probably be find for a good 3 years. If you're at 1440p I'd start looking at upgrading that GPU some time in 2020 or maybe 2021. CPU should last you a good 5 years though. Maybe a mid life ram upgrade to 32gb around 2022 if you find yourself limited.

Secondary System: EVGA GTX 780ti SC, i5 3570k @ 4.5ghz, 16gb DDR3 1600mhz, MSI Z77 G43, Noctua NH D15, EVGA GQ 650W, Fractal Design Define R4, 3TB WD Caviar Blue, 250gb Samsung 850 Evo
