Water cooling

@SickRick Worth looking into intercoolers on cars, and the myth(?) That painting them black helps with heat dissipation. Mighty Car Mods did a video on it I think.

That'll answer your question, although I can't remember the result, I wouldn't say in teh case of a PC it'd be huge gains.

You could just dip it in paint stripper overnight and you should have a bare metal rad afterwards.

I don't think it would help much cooling wise though. In theory bare metal transfers heat better, but the difference is so small I don't think you'll see it back in your temps

but be careful to keep the fittings above the surface; maybe leave the end tank black?

I don't know exactly what it'd do, but I sure know that paint stripper remnants inside your loop would be a baaaad time.

Is it for aesthetics? Because a bare metal rad would look cool in an appropriate build.

I don't particularly see why stripping paint off a radiator would improve cooling performance.

Why do you think it would?

As paint is an insulator stopping air from fan coming into contact with fins and radiator as a whole

I know when I had fx9590 putting single rad on back of case rather than inside case temps dropped dramatically well you wouldn’t have your car radiator sat on your passenger seat.

wondered if there were further gains to be had stripping paint from rad and contact point of case chassis using case as large radiator

I’ve found out that painted radiators loose 1/6th of their ability  to radiate heat so about 17% in efficiency could be gained by removing paint
