Gonna be building my first PC soon and was originally going with the Ryzen 7 2700x with the hero vii wifi board. (I think that's the one, it's like $280)

Was told to wait and see what Ryzen was gonna put out at computex and was wondering now that the new CPUs have been revealed, which is best to go with? And should I get a different motherboard aswell or will the hero be good enough? Mainly gonna be doing gaming, going for 1440p high frame rates. Getting the rtx2080

The new Ryzen chips have greatly improved IPC. So if your goal is high refresh rate gaming, I'd say wait until the new chips are available. You won't need the highest end CPU for gaming so I think your current mobo will do fine.

You'll need a way to update the BIOS on it to make it compatible with the new chips though.

if you are building new, zen 2 is the way to go, both intel and older zen chips are out of contention. Right now (i'm guessing) the gaming performance seems to be on par with the 9900k, if you haven't gotten the motherboard yet might wanna hold off for the x570

I’m looking forward to gaming benchmarks from reviewers, I don’t trust the amd slide show we saw at Computex.

The 3700x looks like the chip to replace my 1800x, if the performance is right I’ll buy one
