9900k on NZXT x52 kraken and Aorus 2080ti Waterforce 240mm AIO

Both tightly fitted in my Meshify C Case. Top and front are both intake SP fans.

Take a look at my temps.

After hours of gaming my cpu and gpu temp never exceeds 60. Sick as hell

Ideally you don't want an Nvidia GPU hitting 50C so it doesn't bin drop.

This is absolute nonsense.

@ImpulsiveTech don’t listen to this.

once you start hitting above 70-75c thermal throttling can kick in

not necessarily. especially Pascal gen cards throttle quite hard above 60, and start dropping power at around 50.

not sure about turing tho.

Oh wow, actually didn’t know that.

but to say ‘all nvidia’ cards is a wrong statement. Thanks for the Clarification

Boost 3.0/4.0 will drop the clockspeed of the GPU one bin (ie 14ish mhz) every 10C starting at 50C. This is separate from actual thermal throttling that the card will also do when it hits the thermal limit.

You don't know what you're talking about. Starting at 50C, Nvidia boost 3.0/4.0 (Pascal/Turing/Volta) will drop one bin every 10C.  It's completely unavoidable. It has nothing to do with the thermal limit.

My 2070 runs happily at 2055-70mhz anywhere between 28-71c (temp has never exceeded 71c)

and the reason it goes from 2070 to 2055 is because it exceeds 50C. There's another bin drop at 60C as well. That's how it works. If you keep it below 50C it will never drop speeds from the initial max boost clock (assuming you don't hit the power limit).

It’s manually OC.

thanks for the explanation tho!

Right, i just meant the initial max clock from whatever your OC was.

Well my gpu are often arounnd 55-60 but sometimes it can go up to 65 degree especially when my FPS in game are around 200+... when i set frame rate limit to 144, my gpu and cpu stays around 55.

Anyway does a overclocked gpu at 2050mhz makes any difference in terms of performance compared to 2100mhz?
