how to say officially motherboard?

Like title says, how to say officially motherboard, as it guys we say motherboard and everyone understand, but how to say to person which has no idea what motherboard is, will I make mistake if i say instead motherboard a base board(atleat how windows wmi calls it)?

Motherboard is the correct term.  There's not really anything else that it could be confused for, in English at least.  If you're trying to describe the purpose to someone who doesn't know, I'd say that it's like foundation everything else is built on.  It connects all the other components.

good example would be cpu everyone says processor or cpu which official name is Central Processing Unit, so I hoped to see same thing for motherboard

Yes, people use processor or CPU interchangeably, and CPU is just an acronym.  Motherboard doesn't really have any equivalent though.  In context, you could use "board", or MB I suppose but unless the topic is referencing it heavily, that could be ambiguous.

messing with windows I noticed that windows motherboard calls as baseboard, so it raised me a question does really word "motherboard" correct word. But it seems yes, so thanks everyone then.

I go with motherboard. Some people in my office call it a 'system board'

personally i like the humanized relationship based description.

its the motherboard and then i can have daughterboards connected to it.

it displays the hierarchy between components. same level parts are siblings.

although now that i for the first think about it i wonder why it isnt called fatherboard

I use this interchangably with motherboard.

 

Same with "head unit" and "deck" and "receiver" with car stereos.

 

There's lots of words with effectively the same meaning.

What if you have 2 motherboards in your tower and one of them is smaller than the other? Is the smaller motherboard call a daughterboard?

Other manufacturers call it the Logic Board (Apple, LG, etc).

 

I grew up using Motherboard and Main Board interchangeably.
