Looks like Optifine is trying to find a file that does not exist or is misplaced. I would suggest to remove all Optifine versions and reinstall Minecraft and Optifine again.

So basically im trying to install the preview version of optifine foir 1.14.1 but i get this message. dunno what it means, tried reinstalling minecraft, googled it, all that standard stuff. still dunno.

Looks like Optifine is trying to find a file that does not exist or is misplaced. I would suggest to remove all Optifine versions and reinstall Minecraft and Optifine again.

Please mention or quote me if you want a response. :)

No reason to tinker further with it if it works :D The installer might have misplaced a file ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Run the install as Administrator. When writing to specifically protected folders some files are seen as threatening and are simply not written to the folder. Make sure your antivirus is off as it often delete file on the disk when installing. If it still fail then you can pick up that file from the web and copy it in the directory it need. If you need to do that chances are that your downloaded installer is corrupted or a bad release version. You can install an older version and update from within the startup application.
