Am i screwed??

So i got a new coller for my ryzen 1600 and while i was taking out the old one i smeared some thermal paste on the side so i had to take the cpu out becouse i couldnt clean it. Basically i had paste on my fingers and smeared it on the pins so do i just put it in or clean it with a qtip and alcohol.

I used non conductive thermal paste do you think the pins wont get good contact. Becouse the thermal paste might go into the mb socket.

Use a paint brush or soft brush to gently scrub away the thermal paste near on the cpu pins. around the ihs, just use a q-tip. Was working a system that won't boot because of thermal paste on the cpu pins.

Get yourself some electronic contact cleaner or isopropanol and clean it before you but it neck into the socket. I did this exact thing and lost one of my x16 PCIe slots. After cleaning it, it all worked fine.

That cpu isn't going to work with that much coating of thermal paste on the pins.

Yup no bent pins just some LIGHT, SLOW take your time cleaning to be had here.

There are a lot of pins with thermal paste, each of them needs to be carefully cleaned off for your CPU to work, and they need to be spotless.

It’s not that bad to clean that cpu, you’ll be fine. Just take your time and you’ll be fine
