Cougar releases another military style case: Enter the MX300

You might wonder who Cougar are, you may have heard of HEC and compucase, the two fused together and cougar happens.

 

I guess this case had "midi" quality.

Well there it is, first thing i dont like is that there is one usb 3.0, i really dont like it, its a waste of a 19 pin cable, either 2 usb 3.0 or none. It may not look like it but there are 3 5,25 drive bays there so you can have 3 dvd drives because as we know dvd drives are very important these days, i mean really, who downloads these days.

Now onto the inside, i like that there are cages for the 2.5inch ssds and small hdds if you use them in a pc. I would like to see people have the ability to get rid of them if we need to. There are cable routing holes but oddly the case indents where you would put the 24 pin motherboard power connector so it may be a little to cable routing without bending a side panel. All bays are tooless, the case comes with tw0 both are 120mm, front and back standard, you can install 5 more when you need to. Also it its a usb 3.0 pas through cable, those things suck balls.

 

There is also an air filter at the bottem for the psu but that is the only air filter, i think it would have been a lot better if there was a filter where the intake is.

Switch the grill and window on the side panel around and it would be a bit better.

am i the only one who thinks that this does not look like a military style case? The only case i have seen that actually lives up to the military styling they claim is the corsair c70. It would be better if it had a larger window and got rid of the cougar logo on the front

The case itself looks alight, but I can see some things that I don't like. The mesh and window need to be swapped and the front is ugly. Also, that cable management hole near where the psu will be is either a little small, or too high up. You'll see more of the cables than you need to, it could be fixed by adding another hole, moving it down, or making it bigger. I also don't like that gap where the 2.5" bays are, you're going to see some messy cables going to the drives. Not sure what to make of that wired cable routing thing for the front panel connectors.

 

Still, with some modding it could look pretty good. and +1 for the integrated motherboard standoffs, they should be standard with all cases.

I kinda like the way that the front panel connectors are pre routed but wish it could have been a solid cover that was removeable.

wait, military grade or military style/look? that thing does not look military, it looks like any other case.
