Minecraft Mods Question

Redrooster

What type of mods could I download that wouldn't put much more stress on my CPU?

I have 16gb of ram, an RTX 2060, and a i5-3550

I average 160fps when I am walking around (130fps when sprinting), 190fps when I am still, 85fps when I am at max speed on a boat

My fps dips to 70  0.01% of the time, so if I download a mod that is more cpu-intensive on my see dips under 60fps

What are my options as far as mods?

Look at the stuff in the FTB lite pack, it's specifically designed to not be too demanding.

Before I stare, that CPU is a huge bottleneck. Not just that it's an i5, it's a 3rd gen i5.

But for mods, you can always use Optifine. Mods that change the look of the game will dip your FPS down.

I recommend mods that add new mobs, but not new looks, new biomes, etc.

What version of Minecraft, and what sort of mods are you looking for? (Technology? Creatures? Factory/Machines? Dimensions? Magic? Utility? Etc...)

Check out Optifine, it might help with your FPS a bit.

That doesn't need to be stated, in my signature it says I'm in between builds (I plan on getting a r5 2600x or a zen 2 chip this summer)

That's solid advice, I could also probably get away with texture packs that don't add any more than a reskin of textures

1.14.1

And to be honest I don't know, I was just kind of wondering what mods wouldn't hurt my cpu.

Seeing how Forge is only updated to 1.13.2 right now, modding Minecraft 1.14.1 isn't going to be all that easy, and the number of available mods is quite small. (Which will change after Forge is updated.)

You can look around through a bunch of mods here: https://minecraft.curseforge.com/mc-mods?filter-game-version=2020709689:7344&filter-sort=4

There are a couple in there that might be helpful, but a lot of garbage too.

The launcher I am using does allow me to switch between versions (not on the same world of course, but I could start a new world with a more accessible version for mods)

1.13.2 is the newest version with Forge support currently. I'm not too sure on what mods are available past 1.8 though. (I only play 1.7.10 and below. Don't care for much of the the crap in the newer versions)

You can download Forge here: https://files.minecraftforge.net/maven/net/minecraftforge/forge/index_1.13.2.html

Alternatively, you could check out some modpack launchers such as the Technic Launcher, Void Launcher, Feed The Beast Launcher, ATLauncher, and I'm sure there are plenty more.
