Is my ram dead?

I got two 8GB ddr3 installed. Is there a way to fix this or one of them is dead, thanks.

Clear the bios first.

Look at you peripheral connections and usb.

The system says that you have 16gigs installed, why you cant use them is another point. Just do what @Constantin already suggested

Also, check that you haven't limited your RAM in msconfig.

There are multiple reasons this can happen check and try these.

 

First

Run> regedit > Enter

Goto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE> SYSTEM> Current Control Set> Control> Session Manager> Memory Management double lick on that folder on the right locate ClearPageFileAtShutdowon double click change value to 1. Exit registry editor

 

Second

Run> Msconfig> Enter

Goto Boot Tab> Click Advanced options> Uncheck Maximum memory if it is checked. Apply and Ok Restart PC.

 

Third

Type in run "mdsched.exe" and run Windows Memory Diagnostic, select Restart Now

 

Very last to try.

Shut down PC and swap the memory around in the slots. This works not sure why but it does work as a last resort.

 

Check task manager again Hardware Reserved should be down to around 16MB or so and you should see the full amount in system information again.

if you have 4 ports, try to suffle a bit it might be a dead connector on the motherboard.

 

Might also be compability issues.

happened to me once, I just Hit my PC with hard knock, and voila-The DIMMS woke up!!! :)

Don't do what @Zorba2.17 said he did.

Try to reseat you ram and if that doesn't help than do what @ddennis002 said.

Would my PC be faster if I bang it? IDK why you use the word woke up its very miss leading, but it worked so nvm.

The board is detecting the memory as seen in the screen capture not a hardware problem, its just a windows issue.

I've had boards detect memory but not allow the OS to use it. Workstations with faulty memory sticks.

From my troubleshooting experiences the extreme edition is limited to hitting electronic components, copulation is way out of my expertise, try it at your own risk,might work XD
