Don't buy those kits. They are more expensive then buying it separately and those guides aren't much of a value added. Also a heat sink isn't necessary but I nice to have. Heat think and case could be order in china since they aren't necessary to get it up and running.

isnt the heatsink kinda needed on the 3? i havent been paying much attention since the OG B+ but i remember there being talk of the 3 being hot af

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

I have a Raspberry 3 B+ and it can rather warm in its case with heatsinks, especially if it's near anything else producing heat (my PC). 60C+ if it's working hard.

I've got 4... (Don't ask)

2 have the old PCB without heatspreaders, 2 have heatspreaders.

The two with could care less if they had a heatsync, and those are the ones currently shipping. So you're probably fine without it.

rPi's seem to be picky when it comes to power supplies, so I usually go with the cheapest CanaKit I can find on amazon, (Usually a case and power supply) then buy a cheap microSD card.

3 runs hot, 3b is not as bad. Especially with the new heat spreader, but I still buy it since mine are usually running overclocked. (Using them for MotionEyeOS, 720p48fps)

Fine you want the PSU tier list? Have the PSU tier list: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1116640-psu-tier-list-40-rev-103/
