Is the AMD Phenom II Black Edition X2 565 3.4ghz good

would it be good for 90's/2000's games or morden games and also light sound/video/picture editing  also since i have one that i got for free unused what is it good for.

Get the 4 core if you can.

It'll do most things others can just slower by small and huge margins than faster processors.

 

However,. Instruction sets within are limited.

Aka it will never open APEX Legends because its missing instruction pipelines the game requires in hardware code. It might be AVX or something else but the Phenoms lack it and Apex won't open.

 

Just an FYI.

It will do a whole lot of everything else though..

If expectations are not too high and with an SSD it'll be a good everyday PC minus modern gaming, but older games won't have those issues.

Or the hex... I have a Phenom II x6 1100T Black Edition in one of my older systems  

 

But it's like @campy says; even though the hex holds it's own slightly better for modern day tasks, the power consumption basically makes it useless. I'm building a small form factor PC right now, and I'm using a low-tdp i7, the 7600T, which itself is a few years old. And even that blows the 1100T out of the water. 

 

Just look at that max tdp figure!  Ironically, the 'T' in the names mean the opposite thing, one signifies a top end chip, and the other a conservative one

Lowest i would go is 2nd or 3rd gen Core i series.

I'm still using a amd phenom ii x4 965 black edition don't judge me lol.But i have had it 4.5ghz on air before with a monster tower cooler on it.It is a little power hungry and gets hot if you don't have a big cooler on it.

First gen i7s and Xeons are still pretty good price and value.
