Is this normal??

Just curious if the CPU temp at Idle at 100C is normal? Its a new system I built.

No, not at all. Even at load that is very high; unless your ambient temperatures near the 40 degrees C (100F or so).

Is this system running overclocked? Is task manager reporting any CPU usage?
What cooler did you use and did you use thermal paste (if it wasn't included on it)? Did you remove the plastic peel on the cooler (if it had any)?

Could you use another program to check temperatures; just to know for sure if this isn't a fluke.

 

Also, is the system super loud? Because if it's actually at 100 degrees C; it should be.

use AIDA64 or CPU-Z for temps, check task manager as well.

I would say that your missing thermal past, your cooler is not tight or you left the plastic on the bottom of your cooler but 100C is not good and needs to be addressed.

Speccy is awful for accurate reading, can you check temps with MSi Afterburner instead?

 

But yeah if the CPU is at 100Cº then there is something wrong with it's cooling.

Missing thermal paste is one thing, 100 at idle is missing the whole heat sink!

You should clean your CPU and CPU Fan first. Also as @ELSknutson said, there may be thermal paste missing between your cooler and your CPU.

Yeah I thought something was up, so I took off the stock AMD Cooler, its a Ryzen 5 2600 with the cooler that comes with it. I changed the thermal paste, nothing on the cooler itself plastic wise. This is Core Temp and CPU-Z.

@Hip OP Stated it was a new build. I would say the same as everyone else paste missing or bad mount. Need more details of what your cooling solution is. Could be bad pump on AIO if that is what your running.

I remember speccy giving a faulty 105C reading on my old AMD A8 APU and since then I never used this program again.

Using the stock cooler that came with my Ryzen 5 2600, no plastic on the cooler, I put the thermal paste on, twice, beats me, thing is on my other pc I just got from a deal. its a 4690k build, when I run speccy its fine temp wise, in the 30's.

So you think its just a weird reading with this CPU probably? I mean the pc isnt acting up or anything.
